HELPFUL HINTS

  1. Meat for the Saturday evening main dish should be frozen before going on the campout. If the recipe calls for small pieces, cut up the meat at home and then freeze it. Once packed in ice in a cooler, it will slowly thaw and be ready for cooking by Saturday afternoon.
  2. Keep your cold foods COLD! Items such as milk, cheese, lunchmeat, salad dressings, and mayonaise should be packed in plenty of ice. When the ice is half gone, replenish it.
  3. When cooking bacon and egg tacos or sausage and egg tacos, always cook your meat first before cooking the eggs. Cook bacon and sausage on low to medium heat until no longer pink. Remove most grease with a paper towel. Then cook your eggs.
  4. If making some type of pizza, use turkey pepperoni instead of regular pepperoni. It tastes the same but won't be greasy!
  5. When baking biscuits, muffins, brownies, or a cake, preheat your Dutch oven about 10 minutes!
